I often get asked, why Until the Dough Runs Out for your name?
I owe all it all to the best pizza I have ever eaten at Una Pizza Napoletana!
Let me explain, Una Pizza Napoletana is run by Anthony Mangieri, he was one of the original pizza makers to bring authentic Neapolitan style pizza to New York City back in 2004.
I remember reading information on his website and I am paraphrasing here, but it said something like, “we are open Wednesday through Sunday from 5 pm until our dough runs out”.
My wife and I got there about 4 pm one weekday to wait on line so we could get in when he opened at 5 pm. We were not disappointed, it was the best pizza we had ever eaten! It still is till this day.
Unfortunately, Anthony packed up his pizzeria in 2009 and moved to San Francisco. Wait, I have great news, he just recently announced he is packing up and moving back to NYC!
The experience was amazing, his whole pizza place was run by just three people. I had never eaten authentic Neapolitan style pizza until that night.
The whole idea to me of making such fresh ingredients and closing literally when you run out of dough, was amazing to me.
Hence the name, Until the Dough Runs Out.
The Logo Design
I wanted to design something different from the logos I had designed for my wealth management firm Focus Planning Group. My other logos were designed from clip art, I felt like my hand-crafted pizza business logo, should be well, hand-crafted.
I have always loved the look and feel of my barbershop’s Iron and Tread logo. I sent them a message and found out it was designed by a local tattoo artist Chris Harris at Liberty Tattoo in Smithtown.
I worked with Chris and gave him a loose vision of what I was looking for and he did such an amazing job. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. 🙂
